When building a warm roof, most of the attention often goes to roofing and insulation. Yet there is a layer that is at least as important, but often underestimated in practice: the vapor barrier.
Every roofer knows them: primers that require drying time or seams that don't quite close after all. The result? Condensation in the roof structure, insulation that loses its effect, mold or even structural damage. Especially in buildings with high moisture production (such as swimming pools, bathrooms or sports halls) this can lead to major problems in the short term.
To avoid those mistakes and delays, BossCover developed the VapourShield HM. This vapor barrier consists of a reinforced aluminum foil with composite reinforcement, coated with a reactive hot-melt adhesive and a removable anti-adhesive film.
That hot melt layer makes all the difference. On contact, the adhesive flows out slightly, fills in uneven substrates and anchors permanently. One pressure suffices to secure the membrane airtight and vaporproof. Without heat source, without primer and without mechanical fixation. Only in the case of porous substrates is VapourShield Primer recommended for optimum adhesion.
Thanks to these properties, VapourShield HM can be used in all warm-roof structures and even in the most stringent category: indoor climate class 4.
In addition to the HM version, BossCover is introducing two more additions:
A vapor barrier may sometimes seem like a detail in roof construction, but in reality it determines the durability and performance of the entire roof. Thanks to VapourShield HM's hot melt technology, air sealing and vapor control work becomes easier, faster and more reliable than ever.
