Bonding EPDM? Start with correct priming

Bonding EPDM? Start with correct priming

Perfect EPDM bonding starts with proper preparation. BossCover Primer takes care of this, but only if you shake, dispense and apply it correctly. In this article, you get a clear, hands-on guide that follows 1-to-1 what we show in the video.

Why priming?

Primer creates an even, adhesive-friendly base. With the right procedure, you avoid later problems such as insufficient adhesion or irregular edges. In short: a small investment in time, a big difference in results.

Roadmap for BossCover Primer:

  1. Shake (± 2 minutes)
Shake the can thoroughly for about 2 minutes. This activates the primer and ensures consistent quality.
  2. Dispense with pouring well
Dispense the required amount into a container. The pouring spout makes controlled work easy and prevents waste.
  3. Close can back
Close the can back to prevent dust or impurities from affecting the primer
  4. Scouring sponge correctly
Use a scouring sponge and make sure it is firmly attached to the holder. This way you work evenly and have control over the pressure.
  5. Sufficient surface priming
Make sure the primed surface is ample for the intended end result. Priming too tightly can weaken adhesion at the edges.
  6. Cover tray when you take a break
Cover your tray as soon as you take a break from priming. This prevents drying out and dust in the primer.
  7. Pay attention to the drying time
Respect the drying time mentioned in the technical data sheet. Gluing too early = risk of reduced adhesion
  8. Use your correct application technique
Use straight, overlapping strokes. Avoid circular motions.
